We began Sound Advice so homeowners and business owners could enjoy better sound, video, and technology.
Since 1991, our clients have enjoyed incredible sound quality, impressive video displays, and helpful IT support.
We opened our computer services division in 2007, then merged with Lafayette PC in 2014. This helped us better serve people who were tired of slow or unhelpful responses from other providers.
Through the years, we’ve kept up with the ever-changing industry and helped hundreds of clients enjoy innovative solutions like automated home lights and locks, custom audio/video systems, effective IT support, and more.
Meet the Sound Advice team.
Our staff is full of people who enjoy serving others and just happen to be great with technology and problem-solving.
Co-Owner & COO
Brian was born in Hazel Park, Michigan. Starting with a Lego robotics summer course in 6th grade, he developed an interest in computers and programming. With Brian’s first car came his first car stereo, and soon he had more invested in the sound system than the actual car was worth.
After dating long distance for two years, Brian and Tina (now his wife) decided to go to Purdue University and start their lives together. An internship at Harman/Kardon — working under some of the brightest audio engineers in the industry — raised his understanding of home audio to another level. Brian’s love of audio and passion for computers drove him to integrate these two worlds, which led him to Rodney Cowden, co-founder of Sound Advice.
Brian began by helping us integrate a client’s computer system with a top-notch theater system. That started a two-year process of Brian and Rodney trying to find a way to bring Brian into the Sound Advice family.
In 2007, Brian started the computer services division at Sound Advice, along with a five-year ownership transition plan and mentorship with Rodney. In 2012, Brian and Tina became the second owners of Sound Advice, and they continue to guide the company today.
Co-Owner & President
Tina graduated from Purdue University with a degree in nursing, worked in home health care, and served at Lafayette’s Regional Diabetes Center for five years. In 2012, Tina left the hospital to work with her husband, Brian, at Sound Advice.
Responsible for billing and office management, Tina helps us oversee the behind-the-scenes work that goes into making our office run smoothly. And she still provides in-home treatments for a few close patients from her nursing career. Whether Tina is tending to a patient or helping a client, she is happy that she gets to fulfill her greatest passion: making a difference in other people’s lives.
Managing technology, sound, and video doesn’t have to be a headache.
